December 10th: College Courses, Fixing Games, Cross Country Team Dinner

Today was great!

In the morning I remembered that I still had 3 units left over that I still wanted to use for a class at the local community college. Since I'm doing concurrent enrollment, I had to apply to get approved for certain classes. I am already registered for a Spanish class and an Economics class, but I can choose from a really basic Python course, an overview of Engineering course, and a Computer Application Systems course. I tried to register for any classes that I could, but the Python course became an in-person offering, and the Engineering and Computer Application Systems courses all had waitlists. I've added myself to the waitlists, but I'm still waiting for a spot to open. If I don't get into any more courses, that just means that I'll have less stress next semester, which won't be too bad either.

I'm glad I checked around the website. As it turns out, the itch.io CDN switched some things around, so my games couldn't be accessed on my website. Since the games were using the itch.io CDN, people trying to play on my schools computers couldn't play since there is website blocking extensions. I've just finished moving all of my games to my own repository on GitHub, so now my games can be played again, they can be played on my school's computers, and the code has been open sourced!

At first I created a separate repository for each game, but that meant that I had to add a lot of CNAME records to Cloudflare DNS. So, I just created one repository which contain all of my games, and to access other games, you just have to go to a different page on the same domain. I'll also probably be adding a full screen button so people can play my games in a larger frame.

At 2:30 I left my house on my bike and went to the location of the Cross Country Team Dinner. It was held at Ayden's house (member on the team.)

We hung around and played games until 4:40, when we began to play White Elephant. One of my coaches bought something that she wanted herself, but unfortunately, it got stolen from her. I ended up getting a Lindt Chocolate Advent Calendar, which I am grateful for.

After White Elephant, we went inside to eat dinner. The dinner was provided by everyone; it was a potluck. I brought chicken buns and barbeque pork buns, and there was also some dumplings, pasta, pizza, salad, fried rice, chow mein, cinnamon rolls, hot chocolate, tamales, and shrimp (I probably forgot some dishes, sorry!) Everything was delicious! After the dinner, we went outside again to play some games.

One of my other coaches forgot his phone at Ayden's house, so we helped to find it. It took a while, but as it turns out, his phone fell out of his pocket by the couch.

After we found his phone, I left Ayden's house at 7. Thank you so much to Ayden's mom and her family for her incredible hospitality!

Thanks for reading,
Issac
