December 26th: Lazy Day and Server Maintenance
Today was OK.
I got out of bed at around 11:30, and at 12, my grandparents and I, along with my extended family, went and ate dim sum. It was pretty good.
After I got home, I got started on installing the SSD I bought from Best Buy a couple days ago for my server. I bought a Crucial MX500 1TB last time for my laptop, but this time, for my server, I got a Samsung 870 EVO 500GB. After installing it, I installed Ubuntu Desktop because I wanted to run some before and after tests with new thermal compound. I bought the Corsair TM30 Performance Thermal Paste for my server because I wanted to make it run better. With the current old and crusty no-name paste that's in the system, when stress testing, the temperatures peak and plateau at 72 degrees, which is the maximum temperature before the CPU completely dies. However, hopefully after I apply the new thermal paste, the server becomes better cooled.
I was going to apply the new thermal paste, but my grandparents said that we were going out again to eat with my extended family. It was pretty good as well.
I still need to make the homework for the Robotics Sub-team. I hope that I can get out of bed earlier tomorrow and finish it in the morning so that the members can have access to it earlier.
