Feburary 26th, 2023: Robotics, Weather, Alternative Engine Design
Today was pretty good, I can't complain.
Today I attended a Robotics Meeting. With only about 3 more weeks until competition, it's crucial that we step up the pace of the creation for our robot. Today we did some finalizing for brainstorming and designing our robot, and began to lay the groundwork for building the rest of our robot. We made some important measurements and did some math to figure out how long our frame needs to be to hold our arm and gripper. Hopefully we can get our robot up and running soon!
The weather is becoming closer to how wintertime should actually be than how wintertime actually was when it was supposed to be winter. It's not raining more heavily, but it's become seriously cold. I feel like it's colder than how it was when it was winter. In the Storm that ravaged California in November, it was raining hard, but it wasn't as cold as it was now. The rain is good for us, but hopefully it doesn't stay this cold. The cold would be great if it snowed in the East Bay, and it did in Mount Diablo, but it would be really cool if it snowed in the urban/residential areas. If it did happen, I think I would have a snowball fight with my friends in school. Perhaps school would even be cancelled due to the extreme weather!
During quarantine, when there was nothing to do, I thought about a design for a rubber band powered car. Basically, instead of using conventional methods for power an automobile, such as gas or electricity, a car could use the potential energy stored in an extremely large rubber band to rotate the wheels. I don't think it would be conventional for the modern day, as I don't think there would be enough torque or speed to be legal for how fast cars go now. However, I recall about the rechargeability of the automobile. One could simply crank a lever to recharge their car if they're ever stranded on a road. It would probably be somewhat cheaper than electric or gas cars, and cost less as well, but I don't think it would have very good mileage or range. I don't know, I'm running out of relevant topics to talk about, so why not talk about something random?
Thanks for reading,
