Feburary 5th, 2023: Drivetrain, Minecraft, and Sunsets
Today was somewhat eventful, which I'm happy about.
Today, in Robotics, we finally finshed building our drivetrain. It's rather late, being that we're 4 weeks into the building period out of 8, but better something than nothing, right? We were originally going to be going with mecanum wheels, but in most retailers, they were already out of stock, and in others the pricing was poor or the shipping was going to take too long. So, in the end, we had no choice but to go with West Coast Drive despite being 4 weeks late. We're still waiting on our electrical team to hook up the motors and everything else so that we're able to drive it. Hopefully we can get our intake/outtake system working in time for the competition! Last year, we had the assistance of our seniors, but we had a really small team so we couldn't get much done. Now that all of our seniors have gone to college, we're basically like a rookie team again.
I think, today, I'm not going to talk about the weather for once. It's great as "filler," but whenever a conversation becomes dead, something typical to say would be "So, hows the weather?" which feels boring. If anyone was curious, it was the same as yesterday with much rain.
The progress on setting up my Whitelisted Minecraft Server has come to a halt. There's very little left to finish, I just need to setup some of the commands and transfer the world over. Hopefully nothing breaks updating from 1.17 to 1.19. Hopefully I can find the time today to finish that up and get it running! I haven't played on it in over 2 years after it died because we had to go back to physical school.
Once spring finally comes, I want to go back to the shoreline. I live really close to it, so i can just ride my bike or walk there. One time, after school, I went to the shoreline near dusk and saw the most amazing sunset I've ever seen. It looked amazing, and I'm hoping I can see it again. I could see so many colors I've only ever see online. After that day, I went back a couple weeks later but it was cloudy and there was even a little drizzle, so there was no sunset, but hearing the waves was still calming and nice, too.
