June 24th, 2023: Leaving the Summer Slow Jams 2023: Idle

Today was good.

I've decided to leave the Summer Slow Jams 2023: Idle Jam. My initial iteration of my game had too many errors, and when a game breaking game became apparent, and with only 4 days left, and the pace that I was working at, and my plans/ambition too large, I decided that it was better if I didn't release the game yet. I did learn a lot as a result of making the prototype. There were just too many technical setbacks to make me want to even finish the game. I think If I didn't start developing the game 6 days after the initial start of the game jam, I probably could finish the game. Anyways, next time I want to make a scrolling top down game, at least I'll be a lot wiser.

In regards to my idea yesterday, which was a classic clicker game with single screen dungeons, I didn't want to make the game at all, honestly. I didn't like the idea. I did make some assets for the game, but if I don't have any passion for the game, I don't think it'll turn out good enough. Also, I couldn't really think of any upgrade names.

Anyways, I'm happy that my life is a lot clearer now. I'll probably create a game later this summer. Now, I can focus more on my C++ Summer College Class, taking drivers ed, and doing more exercise. I might post some screenshots from my prototype tomorrow, but it's late right now.

Thanks for reading,
