March 10th, 2023: Robotics and AI's Impact on the AP Exam Rules
Today was pretty good.
Today, I was helping out our Robotics' advisor, because we had purchased a ginormous metal sheet. We had to cut it because we only needed a portion of it. We're going to be using the rest of the sheet metal for the next competition season. Our advisor told us that he had to transport it in the school van, but since it was so big, it was on the headrests and he had another teacher driving while he was holding it in the back. A bit unsafe, but there weren't any other choices. We'll be using the metal when we go to the Spartans (FRC 971) tomorrow. Thanks, Spartans!
While we were transporting it, I got some of the metal dust in my eye. It was the first time that I felt like I definitely needed to get something out of my eye. Luckily, our advisor helped me out and gave me some instructions on how to clear my eyes. We should probably be using safety glasses more often...
I got an email from The College Board about the AP Terms and Conditions. I was reading it during dinnertime since I didn't really have anything else to do, and I saw a reference to Chat GPT. They state that students aren't allowed to use Artificial Intelligence during exams. (source)
I just find it pretty crazy and amazing, that in this day, there needs to be rules prohibiting the use of Artificial Intelligence. It just shows the grip that it's having on society and the world. It's good that these measures are being taken to prevent human creativity from being replaced by computers, but I'm wondering what else will be done to prevent the take over of AI.
Thanks for reading,
