March 31st, 2023: California Drought and Cesar Chavez Day
Today was pretty tiring, but it wasn't too bad either.
As a result of all of the rain that California has been receiving, the Bay Area is no longer in a drought! Portions of California are still in a drought, but the Bay Area is very moist in comparison to the recent years. I recall in 2016, my teacher talked about the drought that California was in, and we had an assembly about conserving water.
Regardless of the current state of the drought, it' still important to conserver water when possible. Only 1% of the water on Earth is potable, so it's important to conserve when possible. Much of California is still in a drought status, and the recent rain has only assisted in reducing it. It's still very possible that a drought can occur throughout the heated summer.
Here's a map of the drought status in California if anyone is interested: https://www.drought.gov/states/california
Today is also Cesar Chavez Day, so I had a day off from school. It's important to recognize his efforts and work towards more equality for farm workers across the United States. He worked hard for a more equitable nation.
