March 4th, 2023: Robotics and Hot Pot

Today was pretty good.

In Robotics, we drove to FRC Team 971, The Spartan's workshop so that we could work on our robot. They gave us lots of insights about our robot and pointed out some flaws in our design, so that we could improve on our robot. It was a really great experience, and they treated us very well. With only 11 days for our robot, it's important that we wrap it up as soon as possible so that we can begin testing it, and so that our drivers can get used to it. Thanks, Spartans!
Although we didn't get around the building, we got a lot of the essential math done. This helps prevent us wasting valuable metal.

I wonder how people discovered hot pot. Nowadays, it's an extremely popular dish/method of eating. However, my question is, how did people discover that eating hot pot was a great way to socialize with people and eat food at the same time? Typically, I'd assume that the stove or cooktop would be in another location from the house, at least somewhere too far for one to be going back and forth from the stovetop to the table. Perhaps people pulled up chairs around the stovetop while the food was cooking to keep it hot, and the trend caught on.
I read online that hot pot comes from a tradition from the Mongolians. (source) Sometimes I fear about the safety risks of hot pot, especially with raw food so close. Of course, the risk is also present in undercooking the meat, but it's typically sliced extremely thin.
