November 12th: Robotics Meeting and Shopping
Today was good.
In today's Robotics meeting, we started off by simulating our recruitment event. A lot of people haven't been showing up to meetings, and our demographics aren't looking very well, so we'll be doing another recruitment event to get more minorities and females into our club. For the programming team, the new recruits will be describing the instructions to create a sun butter and banana sandwich, but they must be specific, which simulates how specific one must be when programming. They will decide between themselves which one has the best instructions, then the leads will execute the peer-reviewed instruction, then the person who made the best instructions will be awarded the sandwich.
Anyways, after we did the simulation, we reconfigured the radio, since we had to configure it for CalGames. After that, the programming team split off. The ones who wanted more help with loops listened to a lecture with me, while the other people fixed the test code for our old robot. Last time, when we were testing the robot, the controls didn't function as expected (it's hard to describe,) Anyways, we tested the code, and it actually functioned well in our second iteration of the day, but the forward and backwards of the robot were swapped. So after fixing this last issue, the programming team finished programming new controls for our old robot! We had a bit of fun testing the robot around. With the new controls, drifting with it was possible, which was fun. Anyways, after that, the electrical team decommissioned it so that they could strip some parts from it for our new robot for our off season competition, Mechanical M-Ayhem.
After the meeting, I went with my friend to Walgreens to help him buy a Visa gift card. Then, I went home, at lunch, and went on my bike to the local grocery store to buy bread and sun butter for the recruitment event.
