November 15th: Finance Club and Cross Country Race
Today was good.
During the lunch break period, I went to Finance Club and I learned more about taxes and the market.
After the first 10 minutes of 4th period, right after lunch, the Cross Country team was called to be filed into the vans. The race was at a golf course, so the scenery of the course was actually not too bad. The grass was very green, although the hills looked rather extreme. Anyways, the Boy's Varsity race started at 3, and the Girl's Varsity race started at 3:45. The only representation that we had for our school was Dario K, the top runner in our Boy's Varsity team. We began warming up with him prior to the race. Then, with my old notebook which I really want to finish off and get rid of, I wrote "Go Lions!" on a bunch of pages in a sharpie and gave out the pages to the people not competing so that we could cheer him on throughout the race. He ran the race with an injured ankle, truly inspirational, and a reflection of his hard work and perseverance.
Next was the Girl's Varsity race, and we had a full team for this race representing our school. During the race, everyone ran around the course to cheer them on with pages of papers with their names on it. I think all of the runners on the Girl's Varsity team did amazing, and worked very hard. They all pushed themselves to their limits throughout the entire course!
After the Girl's Varsity race, the award ceremony began. Unfortunately, we didn't qualify, because the school that ALWAYS wins ALL of the races in the elevated league won (LIKE ALWAYS) But that's OK, because we have next year to compete. It's important to not forget all of the hard work we put in this season. We never gave up, no matter what. Despite everything, we gave it our best. Now that we have more experience, we'll be more prepared for next year!
