November 26th: Robotics Meeting and A Reflection On November Break
Today was good.
There was a Robotics Meeting today, beginning at 9 AM, and extended to 5PM, which was a pretty long meeting!
I slept through all of my alarms and I woke up at 8:20AM, so I had to rush to get ready for the meeting. I got there on time though!
Anyways, at the first hour, we didn't really do much since not many members were present. The electrical team continued to finish the homework that I assigned during break.
When enough people showed up, the engineering team got to work creating the frame of the kicker of our robot, while the electrical team got to work creating and planning the electrical board for the robot. Once again, lots of our time was spent installing those damn Anderson PowerPole connectors, which have been a pain in the rear since I've began robotics.
Anyways, for the programming team, we had a quick review on functions, then a quick practice, then we asked our advisor, Mr. K, to give a small lecture on using Objects and Classes, the thought process around using them, and the purpose of Object Oriented Programming. After he gave the lecture he planned on working on some practice exercises with using objects for the members of the programming team. At this point there wasn't much else to teach, so after a bit of a break and lunch, I went over the TimedRobot sample code, as well as using the driver station computer for testing the robot. We also made note of everything that needed to be programmed on the new robot.
We only have 5 days until the rookies' next competition, Mechanical M-Ayhem, so hopefully we'll be finished with the robot at that point!
Overall, today was pretty productive. I still have just a single page of homework to complete.
I think November Break was nice, relaxing, but I definitely could've been way more productive. There were many days where I wondered what I had done that day. I really wanted to be finished with my Driver's ED, but I guess I'll have time to finish and focus on it after Mechanical M-Ayhem. I think I need to stop using my phone so often, my screen time definitely went up.
Thanks for reading,
