October 8th: CalGames 2023, Day 3 (Sunday)
Today went well!
We had three more qualification matches today. At the start of the day, I programmed a high speed outtake button for the drive team to use, along with the other member of the programming team. This was used for putting cubes at the middle hybrid shelf. Anyways, after that, I think the engineering team tightened the motor mounts further (I don't really remember, I was on 4 hours of sleep!). Then, we headed in for our first qualification match of the day (Qualification 54). We ended up losing, and our autonomous failed to leave the community, so afterwards, I increased the timing even further for the autonomous leaving the community to ensure that it would actually leave. The match ended up getting redone because two robots failed. Yet, we still lost. Then, we did some more practice on the practice field. We ended up losing the rest of the qualification matches of the day, and we didn't get chosen for alliance selection. We ended up ranking 29th, with a record of 4-6-0 (4 wins, 6 losses, 0 ties).
I'm still really proud of our performance. This competition, we had a fully working robot, despite some minor problems and inconveniences regarding our electrical system and our motor mount. CalGames was also a great way to expose our new members to the competition.
After alliance selection, and us not getting picked, we packed and cleaned up our pit area and headed back to the stands to watch the playoffs and the finals. They were really exciting! The performance of the teams in the playoffs were great. During some of the intermission periods before the finals, they played this year's game with humans. It was really cool to see! It consisted of volunteers, judges, and MCs.
Anyways, I haven't gotten much sleep these past days, so I'm going to go sleep now.
