August 17th: Robotics Leads Meeting, Bryan's Gift, and Godot
Today was alright.
In today's robotics leads meeting, it was pretty productive. For the first half of the meeting, we focused on assigning tasks on basecamp. Then, after a short break, we got started on grant writing. We knocked off a lot of grants, so hopefully we can submit them soon! I also tried teaching an Eevee Java. It was rather cute.
Later in the day, I met up with my friend Bryan so that I could help him with a Wii game. He gave me a belated birthday gift, an electronic repair kit! It really means a lot to me and I'm very grateful to have Bryan in my life and for his gift. Thank you so much Bryan!
Throughout the day I've been speedrunning learning C# and Godot. The C# portion has been pretty easy, since it's really, really similar to Java, but the Godot portion is a little harder. It's literally better than anything I've ever used before. It saves lots of manual code that I would normally need to make. The learning curve, compared to Scratch, is a bit steeper, but the possibilities are a lot more. By far, Godot is so much more impressive and feature rich than anything I've used before, but I'll definitely need to take some time to get used to developing in it. Hopefully I can hack something together tomorrow quickly for the GMTK game jam 2024!
