January 11th: Dry Weather, Robotics Meeting, Math Club
Today was good.
It is finally dry today! I don't need to get soaking wet every time I walk outside! This was especially good for me because I was running late to school, so I didn't need to run in any puddles today.
In the Robotics meeting today, the engineering team did some CAD design for our robot, with help from those who cultivated the ideas. The other engineering leads learned how to cut metal.
The electrical team helped to pack all of the required items we needed to bring to the Salesforce event tomorrow, and they also helped finish up the wiring on SimBot.
The public relations team and the business team did some of our marketing materials that we'll be presenting for the Salesforce event.
I and some other programmers and electricians helped to finish up setting up SimBot. At first, we had many complications with updating all of the software on our driver computer because of how old and cluttered it is. Performance isn't exactly an issue, but rather, because of how disorganized everything is, it's hard to find what you're looking for. Anyways, we finally found out how to update everything required, as well as reformatting the roboRIO. Afterwards, it appeared that the ethernet cable on the roboRIO connecting to the radio was very loose, so we had to replace that. Then, after fixing our code, our gripper mechanism failed to work. As it turns out, for some reason, the CAN IDs kept resetting for the Spark MAXs for our gripper, so I made sure that they retained their value. Finally, after all of these complications, we have SimBot up and running for tomorrow! Hopefully everything goes well tomorrow!
My friend Johnny and I are thinking of starting a Math Club at our school. We delved more deeply into the logistics of the club today.
