January 27th: Celebrating Mr. K's Birthday and Robotics Meeting

Today was good!

Happy Birthday Mr. K! I hope you had an awesome birthday. May the year ahead be prosperous and awesome. Thank you for all the work you do, from staying late with us, to guiding through the way! I hope you get some well-needed rest!

Today we celebrated Mr. K's birthday. I stayed up late last night, like really, really late, but I finished the card for Mr. K this morning, and everyone signed it and I finished putting it together during the meeting without him knowing. I arrived before he arrived, but then we forgot to get a knife to cut the cake, so I had to ride my bike back home to get it. I arrived right when he opened the doors and when everyone surprised him!

After we sang happy birthday and he opened up his presents, we began eating the cake. It was alright. After everyone ate, we got to work. I started off with getting out the mac mini for us because we had to re-install windows. However, I was in the middle of installing drivers yesterday but I ran out of time, so I had to cancel the installation. So, I reinstalled Windows 10 and the drivers and got it all setup for us to use. However, one pretty bad issue is that the computer is from 2012. That's 12 years old at this point, so it won't be that useful for us, but we can probably use it to play music during meetings instead of always having to grab a laptop.

We also finished up the inventory system of our POS system for fundraisers. Now, we won't need to manually keep track of our inventory or our sales. At the end of the day we can hopefully fill everything out a lot quicker! One major slow down today is that a member kept spelling the word "Cookie" wrong. They spelt it like "Cooke" and "Cookies," so when we thought that everything was looking, oh look! The cookie button doesn't work! The issue was discovered after we already put everything away, so we had to get everything out again to fix the bug.

Anyways, we also got some help and direction with the IMU from our mentor Dr. Max. We had to learn more about vectors so that we can do vector math for the IMU. We'll get started once the electrical board is installed onto the new robot!

Tonight I get to sleep more : - )

Thanks for reading,
Issac
