January 6th: Robotics Kickoff, Hard Drive Recovery
Today was OK.
Today is Robotics Kickoff! It's the day where we learn about the new robot game for the new robotics season. If you want to learn more about it, here is the link to this year's game animation (link).
Anyways, I feel that this year's game is more complex than the one's I've encountered in the past. It's cool to see that FIRST is taking suggestions from student game submissions.
Anyways, in the meeting today, we primarily dissected and digested the rules.
After the meeting, I went back home and ate lunch. After that, I investigated more on ways to decrypt my hard drive. I decided that I will be attempting to use datarecovery.com. I still need to find a way to either drop off the hard drive or to ship it to them. I also hope that the cost isn't too high.
I've asked for their free shipping label, but in the mean time (since I called at around 8pm) I'm backing up the encrypted partition of the drive on one of my local disks just in case anything happens.Â
What was stupid of me was making the partition 500gb when the files realistically only take up 250gb, so I had to format the drive of my laptop because Ubuntu kept complaining about insufficient free space. Fortunately, it's not like my laptop is usable right now, since I'm still waiting for the cpu fan to arrive so I can repair my laptop.
Anyways, there will be another robotics meeting tomorrow for brainstorming on the robot. Hopefully 2024: CRESCENDO goes well this year, and good luck to all the other teams!
