July 21st: Sunset Showdown (Day 3)

Today was exciting!

I randomly woke up at 5 AM and heard a bunch of people around me snoring. Then, I managed to fall asleep for just a little while before we had to wake up again at 6:30 AM.

After taking a while to get ready, we went out to get breakfast. The breakfast was simple but good, with selections of cereal or a breakfast burrito. I got the breakfast burrito, which had egg, hash brown, and cheese. I added some tapatio, but for some reason, it was really spicy!

After we finished breakfast, we headed back up to the pits to get ready for our matches.

In our first match of the last day, we had a REALLY good match. We were running pretty good shuttling (ferrying) cycles, a grand improvement from before. However, in our last qualification match of the day, half of our drive train failed because of a wire that disconnected.

During alliance selection, we were chosen as the fourth backup team by the 7th seeded alliance captain 6662 FalconX, with partners 1619 Up-A-Creek Robotics and 846 Funky Monkeys! It's the first time we've ever been chosen into an alliance. Though throughout playoffs, we had many false alarms for being called in, but we didn't end up competing in any playoff matches. However, I did get to stand behind them and observe our alliance compete.

Though we were eliminated, I'm very happy about our performance in this competition. May CalGames be even more successful!

After the competition ended and we packed everything into our van and we began driving back home, that I realized how tired I was. When I got home, though I have a test tomorrow and wanted to cram and study, I fell asleep on the couch in the living room.

Thanks for reading,
Issac
