May 21st: Why Walk So Fast?
Today was OK.
I didn't do much today. Nothing very significant happened.
Why must we walk fast when we have nothing to do? In a modern, fast paced world, if we have the opportunity to, why shouldn't we try to savor life? I've decided to change how I move throughout school.
I have 5 minutes until my next class. Moving 30 yards to class shouldn't take very long, maybe 1 minute if you actually try. However, why should I bother trying? There's no benefit to walking to class early. What am I supposed to do if I set my backpack down 3 minutes earlier? I'm left just wandering around, waiting until class actually starts. Thus, I don't think there's much of a reason to be walking to class earlier. I see some people who I know definitely have no reason to get to class early speed walking and rushing to class.
Therefore, with my new revelation, unless I have a reason to get from point A to point B, then I shall savor life and walk slower. Like, really really slowly. I think others should do so as well. Why must we constantly rush? Especially in this period when we can afford to slack off a little more, I think we should be taking advantage of the opportunity.Â
Throughout the school day I walked very, very slowly from each class. My movement was very conservative. I was stepping inches every time. Thus, I was able to enjoy the dynamics of the school. Instead of focusing on my movement, I focused on what was happening around me. Sometimes it's enjoyable to slow down, not stress about getting from point A to point B, and being in the present moment.
During lunch break, I walked really slowly around campus because I didn't have anything good to do. Some people thought I was high and tripping. Unfortunately, lunch time isn't normally that exciting and eventful for me, so since I didn't have anything to do, why bother walking around faster?
During AP CSP I fell of my chair and Mr. K just kept teaching, which was a little funny. Everyone else stared though.
However, it's reasonable to consider various hypocrisies with my new philosophy. Why should I walk fast to school or back home quickly? When I walk on the road with my friends to the local plaza, why shouldn't I also slow down? It's important to consider that there must be no reason present to walk fast. Therefore, you should walk slow. I need to get to school or else I'm marked tardy. I want to walk home because the sun is hot and I don't want to be there baking in the sun. Also I want to go home quicker. I've walked the same roads over and over again, so there's nothing else to enjoy.
After school I watched Super Size Me. It was interesting, though outdated, to see how some unhealthy trends never change. It was also a little scary to see Morgan Spurlock almost die. I also studied for my Spanish final. Hopefully I do well in it! I might go for a Spanish Certification.
