November 23rd: Cross Country Section Race and Mechanical M-Ayhem 2024
Today was pretty good!
The XC Oakland CIF Section Finals was held at Chabot College. The race was held despite the pretty heavy rain. All of our stuff got wet as well.
I ended up getting a time of 22' 26", which beats my last PR by a little. Though, the last one was for a 5K, and this race was 3 miles. I'm still pretty happy though, but I know that I could've ran faster if I had more time to warm up. Like last race, I got another side stitch, but this time wasn't as serious as last time.
Congratulations to Chloe L. for placing 8th on the Girls Varsity race! She will be representing as part of the Oakland section at the XC state championships!
Finally, this race marks the end of the rest of our seasons though. Thank you to all of the XC runners this season; I've had an amazing time on this team and I've really enjoyed all of the community and self improvement I've gained during the last two seasons. Another one of my regrets is not joining the team earlier.
After the race, in the rain, I ran hope to catch an Uber ride on time with some other robotics members to get to Mechanical M-Ayhem. We got there right at lunch time, so I had some time to familiarize myself with the rules and get onto the referee list.
At that time, our team was experiencing a small issue. As it turned out, it was because were underpowering one of our motors in fear that it might trip a breaker. After reconfiguring, our arm worked fine though. I heard in the morning that nothing was working, but by the time I arrived during lunch time, many of the problems had been ironed out. Unfortunately, our drivers didn't have much practice as a result, but our robot was good!
At the end of the competition, our lead mentor Mr K won the Mentor Luminary Award and our rookie team won the creativity award! This competition went really good.
Actually, this whole day went pretty good. Only good news today! Unfortunately, I really, really need to work on my PIQs and other homework tomorrow. Hopefully I lock in!
