November 9th: Cross Country Conference Final Race
Today was bad!!!
First off, congratulations to:
KKC's Girl's Varsity XC Team for winning 1st place
KKC's Girl's Junior Varsity XC Team for winning 1st place
And the following for winning medals for top places during their races:
Chloe (1st, MVP)
Judy (3rd)
Yuying (4th)
Bella (7th)
Dario (5th)
An honorable mention for Raymond, Eisen, and Joshua for getting top places in JV within BACSAC schools.
Very admirable performances!
Unfortunately, during my race, I did much, much worse than I was expecting. I got a side stitch around the second mile. Side stitches weren't a large problem this entire season, but somehow I got one for the most important race at the end?? I'm not sure what I did wrong. I made sure to breathe deeply, I stretched more than usual, I drank sufficient but not too much water, I ate hours beforehand. Yet, I had to slow down so much that I ended up getting a worse time than last year's race. I was really hoping to finish the race at 22 minutes. But I ended up getting 24' 59", just shy of 25 minutes. After checking the results, I ended up at the same place I was last year, 25th/41 runners. I'm genuinely really pissed at this result. The question comes to mind if I deserved this varsity spot.
Now, I have to run at the CIF Oakland Section Championships, which are on November 23rd this year, at Chabot College, which directly coincides with Mechanical M-Ayhem for robotics! Not only this, but two rookies that really need to attend Mechanical M-Ayhem will have to run as well.
