October 26th: Cross Country Meet, Robotics Meeting, and Procrastination

Today had its high ups and downs.

In the morning, I woke up early for the cross country meet at the marina. After a hearty breakfast of cereal, a banana, and a little bit of peanut butter, my father drove me to the meet location with my bike in the back.

It was very cold when we arrived, and the sun had barely crossed the horizon. People arrived quickly though. Then, we got warm by jogging around the loop. Afterwards, we did a warm up and did a slow jog to stay warm.

The boy's varsity started at 8:15. I was running at a faster pace than I was expecting for my first mile at 7' 11". However, I felt fine. The second mile I slowed down a bit significantly, at 7' 43". Finally, the third mile, I picked up my speed and ran it at 7' 12'. I ran closely the entire race with another teammate. At the final stretch, three of us running varsity were together, with a random guy next to us. However, we all surpassed him in the end! I personally got a new PR of 22' 37"!! Which made me so happy that at the end of the race, I screamed "THAT'S A PR!!!" because I was so happy! I hope to keep practicing and continue to achieve or surpass that time.

Our girls varsity did an amazing job as well, winning first place! They all ran closely with each other and achieved high placements!

After I finished biking home with a view of the ocean shoreline, and after a very light snack at home, I arrived to the robotics meeting. They were just having lunch, and there was a carnival at the middle school, so we got some snacks over there. It was the first time I had cotton candy in a really long time!

We got some minor progress made. The programming team got support for their lessons, and the mechanical team got to work on the chassis. For the leads meeting, many weren't present, but we still got some good discussion done.

When I got home I didn't get to do much. Instead, I took a 3 hour nap, which really upset me because I was supposed to complete an entire task during that time. I wasn't even that tired! I really need to stop sitting on the couch or my bed because I know that I can survive with less sleep.
