September 28th: Cross Country Race, Lio and Michelle's Birthday Party, and Peach plant
Today was alright.
I woke up very early, around 5:15AM, to get ready for the XC Race. First, I ran around the block, around 0.5 miles, to start my body up. Then, I ate a larger breakfast, full of carbohydrates and electrolytes. I had a banana, cereal, milk, and granola. Then, I rode my bike to school so that our coach could drive us to the meet location.
After picking up some extra Gatorade, we arrived at our meet at Chabot College. After setting our stuff down and collecting everyone, we started with a walk around the route. Then, the boys started our warm up and we got to the starting line. Also Coach K showed up!!
When I checked my watch when our coaches were telling us to head to the final stretch, I was confused when my distance wasn't close to 3.1 miles, a regular 5K. After I finished with a time of 19'40.5", in 26th place, I was really confused because there was no way I had achieved such a good time. I made sure that I ran the proper route after checking my watch, which said that I had only ran around 2.6 miles. It was then revealed that the route wasn't a regular 5k 3.1 miles, but "2.68 miles." What the heck is that? It's definitely not a standard race length. I genuinely feel cheated out of a race because I was on track to PR'ing again. Oh well, there's a next race.
Congratulations to everyone who raced! Especially congrats to the girls team for winning 1st place!
After the race I took a nap. When I woke up, I got on my bike and rode to Lio's and Michelle's birthday party. It was very social and fun. We played some video games, had some food, and sang lots of karoke. I'm grateful for the invitation and I hope Lio and Michelle had a good birthday party!
When I got back home, I checked up on my plants. It was a bit of a windier day, so one of my apricot saplings got a little bit uprooted. Thus, I re-supported it with more soil. Then, I checked my peach seed, which had sprouted!
