January 8th: Why Is There So Much Work? And Laptops At School

Today I was baffled.

I can't believe it. It's only been 2 days into the second semester of school and I'm already overloaded with work. I don't think I've been working as much as I should've yesterday since I slept a bit earlier. However, I'm just surprised that so much stuff as slipped through the cracks, and I'm right back where I have been the past month, working on everything right at the deadline.

I just have to survive by Friday and do all the work! Friday will give me a chance to catch up with everything I need. I'm still waiting for my community college transcripts to be finalize so I can send it in for my college admissions, but if they take too long I'll just have to submit without my grades for the last semester (which I feel like I sacrificed quite a bit for.)

At school, they're allowing senior students to use their personal laptops during college counseling time by contract. In the past, students have used it with no problem and no one really cared. Beginning this year, they're really cracking down on external device usage for the sake of social media, and because there were quite a few "incidents" at our school, which they're blaming on phone usage. Thus, they also have to ban personal laptops. While I'm thankful for the Chromebook they distribute, they are just too slow, they don't have enough of them, and I have more important matters I need to tend to rather than just school work. After taking community college classes, I appreciate the responsibility they provide to students and the freedom you have. While most community college students are adults, the responsibility that comes with that is much more trusted which I appreciate and wish could be implemented at the high school level, but there are simply too many delinquents who aren't mature enough to control themselves that ruins it for everyone else who is trying to be productive.

Sorry if I got a bit side tracked, but anyways, I my school is just far too restrictive of its students that I feel like its hindering what I can do during the day.

Thanks for reading,
Issac
