March 6th: Robotics Meeting

Today was alright.

Today's robotics meeting was pretty productive. The programming team tested the rest of the sensors, the electrical team organized their cabinet and the mechanical team worked on the tower and algae cannon.

For the sensors, we were pleasantly surprised to find that the REV Throughbore encoder worked very seamlessly and easily. Very nice piece of hardware to use! We hope to install it on our intake mechanism and our algae cannon's pivot.

However, we couldn't say the same for the NavX2. It's a great piece of hardware, but we found it hard to use at first because of the poor, un-updated documentation. It sucks because we had been working on a NavX2 mount for it for a while. We managed to get it working with the USB though, but using the MXP port would be the more optimal solution. I think we should be able to do it, I think we were importing the wrong libraries.

Our robot is slowly but surely coming along. It's sad to see that we aren't more finished with it, so we'll be definitely lacking on our programming side, but at least we're making more progress every day. I'd like to see more planning though.
